Birds Nest Flower Pot with Kalanchoe - Plant
Place your Kalanchoe in its nursery pot into the birds nest flower pot. Water immediately. The Kalanchoe is an undemanding plant. It is happy placed in full sun and also in a shady position.
The Kalanchoe is a succulent of the Crassulaceae family.
Water your Kalanchoe sparingly and only when the compost feels dry to the touch. The pot can be placed anywhere you choose, it can even be put outside on the patio in the summer. Water once or twice a week during the winter. Remove spent flowers to encourage reflowering.
The Kalanchoe flowers when the days are shorter, so therefore flowers naturally in the autumn. If you want the Kalanchoe blossfeldiana to flower in other seasons it will need to be treated as if the days are shorter which means moving it regularly to a dark area over a period of about a month – a dark closet perhaps. If you manage to give the plant these periods of darkness every day at the same time (a maximum of 6 hours) it will reflower. A light bulb on a timer is handy. Do not have a light on when it should be dark.
