You can plant the Evergreen Hedge shrubs immediately after receiving them. Prepare a trench 60-80 cm deep. Improve the excavated soil with compost and manure. Soak the plants in water for one hour before planting. Divide the shrubs over the trench, about 5 plants per 4.5 meters. The hedge will be about one metre wide. The top of the root ball should be flush with ground level in the garden (please note that some land will collapse). Fill with soil, and give it lots of water so that it almost turns into a swamp.

Our Evergreen Hedge Collection consists of cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus), fluffy snowball (Viburnum lantana), privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium), glass medlar (Photinia x fraseri 'Red Robin ') and holly (Ilex aquafolium). This Evergreen Hedge stays green throughout the entire year. You can give your hedge either a tight shape or a much looser shape.

The Evergreen Hedge will require regular watering during the first year. Then it is only necessary to water in dry periods. In winter cover the ground under the hedge with a mulch of compost and garden fertiliser.

Evergreen Hedges need to be pruned

These hedges should be pruned twice a year to keep their tight shape and prevent them from growing too wide. A good time to prune is from early to mid-June. After the 21st June (the longest day) trim the hedge preferably so that it's slightly tapered (wider on bottom), and work with the hedge trimmer from bottom to top. Do you prefer a straight cut? Tie a rope across the top of the hedge for guidance. Prune the hedge again for the winter.
