Make sure the root ball of the Winter Jasmine is well-moistened by soaking it in a bucket full of lukewarm water overnight. Prepare a suitable hole in ordinary well-drained soil. Plant the root ball at the appropriate depth in the hole. The top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. The Winter Jasmine requires less water during the winter. Place this plant in full or partial sunshine. The Winter Jasmine is happy in almost any location – tolerates most soils and weather conditions.

The Winter Jasmine is a free climbing plant

The long, flexible branches of the Winter Jasmine can easily be trained against walls or fences or over arbours and trellises. The branches cannot support themselves and should be tied. It will thrive anywhere even on a sunless, cold, north wall.

Its cute, yellow flowers appear in winter on bare stems before the leaves, which is why it is also called the ‘Nude’ Yellow Flowering Jasmine. The flowers can even tolerate frost and snow during the winter. The branches remain green all winter long. Place a branch in a vase and the flower buds almost open.

The Winter Jasmine is a strong plant that requires minimal maintenance. Give it extra water during dry periods. Are you growing this climbing plant outdoors? If so, make sure it stays fairly dry. Provide it with garden manure at the end of the winter. Strong pruning is absolutely unnecessary. You can trim its long branches immediately after flowering or trim regularly to maintain the shape of the plant and prevent bare patches forming.
